Search by Voice app appears for UK users
A heads-up to UK G1 (and other Android smartphone) owners that the Google ‘search by voice’ app has appeared in the Android Market. This wasn’t included in the Android 1.5 (Cupcake) update which was delivered over-air a couple of months ago to UK subscribers.
Once downloaded and installed you’ll find the Google search widget acquires a mic icon. Click it and you get to describe your search rather than type it.
To be honest, it’s not always the most accurate of voice recognition systems but since it’s there you might as well add it.

It’s available from the Android Market. Search for ‘google voice search’ or similar and it should show up. It doesn’t integrate with contacts at the moment but adds itself to the google search widget on your home page. Also if you click on the magnifying glass icon on the keyboard or if you’re in a browser and you click menu -> Go it appears next to the text input field. Click on the microphone icon to use it. It’s actually reasonably accurate so it’s worth installing.
