Review of Gmote for Android
Gmote allows you to remotely play media files on a computer (PC, Mac or Linux box) on the same network or (currently in beta) play those same files through your Android device. That’s pretty neat in itself but neater still is the ability to control your computer’s mouse via the phone touchpad and type using the (phone’s) keyboard.

Set up is simple enough. Download the Gmote server from the web site and install it on the machine you want to control, set a password and add the path to your media files. Done. Full instructions, FAQ and troubleshooting guide are available on the Gmote web site so we won’t repeat them here.
This isn’t an app for everyone but if you use a PC to stream media already or you’ve got one hooked up as a PVR and connected to a TV, Gmote on your phone could replace a dedicated remote or wireless keyboard. It could also be useful in a work environment for controlling presentations. And if you’re even remotely geeky you should have a look just because it’s cool.
