Version 0.4.7 of beebplayer (the unofficial BBC iPlayer substitute for Android) has been released onto the Android Market this evening. The latest update provides the facility to stream live radio as a background task hence the funky little icon sitting in the task bar in the screen grab below.

This is a useful addition in itself but the other news worthy of mention is that (at least some) T-Mobile users can now use the app to stream content over 3G -  something which up until now has been impossible for some mysterious technical reason. Fantastic news!

Props to the developer Dave Johnston who continues to work on and improve what must be one of the best apps on the market for UK residents and who doesn’t get a bean for his efforts.
