‘With Google’ phones (like the G1 on T-Mobile) don’t provide native support for Microsoft’s Exchange – a bit of a dealbreaker if you happen to need it. Fortunately, though, Nitrodesk were good enough to develop Touchdown which provides the missing tools. You can see our original review of the app here: review of Touchdown.

Touchdown was already pretty good but today’s release provides some genuinely useful additions. The most significant is the ability to sync with tasks as well as email, contacts and calendar though this is limited to those connecting via ActiveSync only or Exchange 2007 modes for now.

You can also add a Touchdown widget providing  a snapshot of latest email, appointments or tasks (from the phone home screen -> menu -> add -> widgets). This is very cool but it does require that you have plenty of room on your home screen.
