In our continuing mission to alert Android users to the best apps available, we thought it was about time we mentioned My Tracks by Google.

So, what does it do?
Tracks your position in real time by means of your mobile network (not especially precise) or your GPS position (pretty good). You can upload the resulting trace to Google maps or, using the exportable standard format map data (GPX or KML) stuff it into another application such as Google Earth. It also provides stats on your journey, including average speed, distance and elevation info. The maximum speed recorded may not always be absolutely, 100%, spot on though…
