This story is good and bad news all in one go. Apparently the HTC Magic (the phone which forms the basis for the ‘G2′) has native support for Exchange in the Asian market. Does this mean we can expect this to be rolled out for the G1.

Unfortunately the answer appears to be a big fat ‘Noooo’ – the explanation being that the G2 on Vodafone along with the G1 on T-Mobile is a ‘with Google’ phone meaning that the customised OS features HTC have added to the Magic for the Asian market won’t be carried across.

Still, there are some third party apps out there which are supposed to deliver a greater or lesser degree of support for Exchange ActiveSync support. We’ll be reviewing one or two of these in the near future probably starting with TouchDown by NitroDesk.
